Bhisho - Fauna & Flora
Bhisho is located in an area characterized by rolling hills and grasslands, interspersed with acacia (thorn) trees and riverine thicket that is host to a wide variety of birdlife and a number of small antelope species. Within reach of a short drive, spectacular dams and ancient forests create a diverse natural environment that hosts over 250 species of birds that have been recorded in the area. These include the highly-endangered Cape Parrot that can be seen flying over the town regularly.
